Description
25 and 26 Bailgate are a pair of houses that have been converted into shops and residences. They date from the mid-19th century and are constructed of brick with stone dressings, topped with slate roofs featuring two stacks on the party walls. The buildings have a plinth and pilastered wooden doorcases with overlights and bracketed cornices, along with modillion wooden eaves. They rise three storeys and consist of four bays. On the left, there is a rendered 20th-century shopfront with a glazed door and window, while on the right, there is a 20th-century shop window and a half-glazed door. Above these, there are two square corniced bay windows, with a plain sash window to the left, and four plain sash windows above that. The interior has not been inspected. The buildings are included for their group value.
