Description

No. 17 Bailgate is a house that has been converted into a shop and salon. It dates from the mid-18th century and was restored with its front rebuilt in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and topped with a pantile roof. It features a first-floor band and consists of two storeys plus attics, arranged in four bays. The late 19th-century wooden shopfront is pilastered and includes a recessed glazed door with a moulded cornice. Above the shopfront, there are four glazing bar sash windows set on a brick sill band, with soldier courses above them. At the top, there is a 20th-century segment-headed dormer that contains a six-pane casement window. The interior has not been inspected.
