Description
The Lion and Snake Public House is a public house dating from the late 16th century, with additions and alterations made in the mid 19th century. It features timber framing that is rendered, with a brick underbuild and a pantile roof, which has a single brick gable and ridge stacks. The building has a jettied first floor and stands two storeys tall with five bays. The 19th-century wooden front has pilasters and a near-central doorcase with a beaded panelled door, flanked by two windows on the left and three on the right. All of these windows have Gothic glazing bars, pilasters, and an entablature. Above, there are five plain sash windows. A 19th-century street lamp on a bracket is located at the south end. The interior was refitted in the mid 20th century.
