Description
Nos. 7-11 on Guildhall Street is a bank and two shops with offices above, built in the mid-19th century. The building features a combination of ashlar and brick, with ashlar and stucco dressings, and has slate roofs topped with two brick gable stacks. It is designed in the Italianate style.
The ground floor is rusticated, with quoins, moulded cornices, and a first-floor band that includes an anthemion frieze. The structure has three storeys and consists of nine bays. The central section has seven bays, flanked by single bay wings. In the middle, there are four casements with transoms, bordered by single rusticated and moulded doorways. To the right, there is a doorway leading to a rear entry, while to the left, there is a 20th-century shopfront. The right side features a 19th-century shopfront with enriched pilasters and a cornice. Above this, there are seven margin light sashes with cornices, flanked by single sashes that have pediments. Above these, there are nine smaller sashes with moulded surrounds. The interior has not been inspected.
