Description
No. 16 Guildhall Street is a house from the early 19th century, now occupied by the YMCA with offices above. The building features a brick structure with a stucco front and a slate roof, complemented by two side wall stacks. The ground floor is rusticated and includes quoins, while a cast-iron balcony supported by brackets adorns the first floor. The eaves cornice is moulded, and the building has a coped parapet. It stands three storeys high with five bays, featuring a slightly recessed central bay. The ground floor has pilasters and a central rusticated doorway, flanked by two fixed windows from the 20th century. Above, there are five glazing bar sash windows with cornices, with the central window supported by scroll brackets. The top level has five smaller sash windows with eared architraves and bracketed sills. The west side, facing Water Lane, displays a modillion cornice and a mix of 19th and 20th-century window designs. The interior has not been inspected.
