Description
This building, known as No. 1 Newland, is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and 20th century. The structure is built of brick with a rendered front and features roofs made of plain tiles, pantiles, and concrete tiles, which include a single gable and ridge stacks. There is an eaves band present. The building has two storeys plus garrets and is arranged in an L-plan with two bays. The shopfront, which spans the full width of the building, is a late 19th-century wooden design that includes a splayed central doorway and a fascia with a cornice. Above the shopfront, there are two 19th-century margin light sash windows. The east gable features a 20th-century casement window in the garret. The interior has not been inspected.
