Description
No. 24 Newland is a house that has been converted into a café and shop. It dates from the mid-18th century and features some alterations from the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has roofs made of asbestos cement, slate, and pantiles, along with two gable stacks. The gables are tumbled and have renewed brick coping. The structure is two storeys high, plus attics, and has three bays, arranged in an L-shape.
The north front showcases a full-width wooden shopfront from the late 19th century, which includes an off-centre splayed doorway and a fascia supported by brackets. Above the shopfront, there are three 18th-century glazing bar sashes featuring wavy topped lintels and keystones. Above these, there are two segment-headed dormers with sliding sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
