Description
No. 5 Cornmarket is a building that likely originated in the 18th century but features elements from the mid-19th century. It stands three storeys tall with a carved gable end facing the road and a rendered exterior. The roof is covered with pantiles, and the building has rusticated quoins. A notable feature is the two-storey canted oriel window from the 19th century, which has a wood panelled base between the storeys and a moulded cornice. The first floor has a modern base, and the ground floor contains a modern shop. The ground floor facing New Street is finished in channelled rusticated stucco. This building is listed as part of a group that includes Nos. 1 to 13A (odd), the Masons Arms Hotel, and The Corn Market.
