Description
14 and 16 Cornmarket are mid-19th century buildings that may have an earlier core. They stand three storeys tall and are rendered with rusticated quoins, topped by a Welsh slate roof. The buildings feature a paired modillion eaves cornice. The top floor includes two segmental-headed windows with carved lintels that have acanthus terminals and carved keystones, with hung sashes that do not have glazing bars. On the first floor, there are two canted oriel windows, each with three segmental lights and no glazing bars. The ground floor has two 19th-century shop fronts, each with four lights and canted designs, along with two half-glazed doors that are set back. This listing is part of a group, with Nos 2 to 26A (even) forming a cohesive architectural ensemble.
