Description
Nos 22-28 on Cornmarket is an early 19th-century building. It is two storeys high, constructed of brick, and features a shallow-pitched hipped slate roof with dentilled eaves. The first floor has five equally spaced semi-circular headed hung sash windows, which are almost flush with the wall and include glazing bars and semi-circular-arched heads with keystones. There is a continuous band below the windows. The ground floor was designed to accommodate five shops or offices, featuring a continuous fascia and simple doorways with well-crafted panelled doors and windows that also have glazing bars, all of which are well proportioned. At the western end, the corner is cut away, revealing a semi-circular-headed doorway with a late door. There is also a three-light window with hung sashes and a rendered lintel with a keystone that rounds the corner. Nos 2 to 28 form a group.
