Description
No 10, No 10B, No 10C, and No 10D on Upgate is an early 19th-century building that has been converted into flats. It stands three storeys tall, constructed of red brick with yellow dressings, and has been re-roofed with cement pantiles. The building features a modillion eaves cornice and a tall plinth.
There are five windows on the uppermost floor, which have slightly segmental arches and modern casements. The first floor includes three windows with segmental arches, two of which have marginal glazing, as well as a two-storey late 18th-century bow window with three lights, marginal glazing, plain pilasters, an entablature, and a dentil cornice topped with a leaded roof. The ground floor has one window with a segmental arch and marginal glazing, along with a four-panel door set in a yellow brick architrave and a rectangular modern fanlight. Access is provided by three steps with a modern iron handrail.
There are double yard doors made of six panels within a plain pilastered painted stucco architrave that includes an entablature and cornice. A string course runs between the ground and first floors. The sole entry to No 10B and a one-storey early 19th-century wing at the rear are also part of this property. Nos 6 to 12 (even) form a group with this building.
