Description

This is an 18th-century three-story brick house, located on the east side of Upgate. The front of the building is cement-rendered. It has a pantile roof with stone gable ends featuring kneelers. The facade has three windows, each a hung sash without glazing bars, set within wide wooden frames with segmental-arched heads and plain cills. A wooden doorcase with plain pilasters and a triangular pediment broken over a semi-circular head frames the left-hand entrance. The doorcase also includes a boarded fanlight and shallow reveals with a panelled soffit. The entrance door is a late addition, consisting of three panels, two of which are glazed. A decorative band runs between the building’s stories. A single rendered stack is also present. The building is part of a group that includes numbers 7A, 7B and 9.
