Description
No. 84 High Street is a house and shop dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features a pantile roof with brick coped gables and a gable stack. The building has an L-plan layout and stands two storeys plus attics high, with a three-bay front that includes a dentilled eaves course.
On the right side, there is a late 19th-century timber shop front and doorway, which features narrow pilasters, carved brackets, and a moulded cornice. The left side has rebuilt brickwork with an arched-headed fixed light. The first floor has two plain sash windows, with a recessed blank opening to the right. The sash windows on the right have segmental arched heads with keystones, while the left window has been rebuilt with a segmental arched head. In the roof, there is a segmental-headed glazing bar dormer with a lead roof and cheeks.
On the side of the building, there is a first-floor brick band and a 20th-century doorway. To the right of this doorway are three late 19th-century cross casements, above which are a glazing bar sash and a three-light casement, along with a lead-roofed dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
