Description
This lamp standard, located on Liquorpond Street in Boston, dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast and wrought iron. It features ornamental designs with Greek and Egyptian motifs. The lamp has a fluted base and a tall plinth adorned with a Greek key border. The pedestal showcases anthemion motifs and is supported by four claw feet. Rising from this is a fluted Corinthian column, which has supports for lights made of scrolled tendrils. The lamp has been converted to electricity. On one side of the plinth, there is a plaque displaying the town arms, while the opposite side bears an inscription that reads, "This standard was presented to the town by Alderman Charles Day J.P. Chairman Highways Committee to commemorate his year in office as Mayor of the Borough 1924-5."
