Description

Numbers 10 and 12 are two houses, dating from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century, and refurbished in the early 1980s. Number 12 is of brick construction, with a partly rendered stone plinth and a slate roof, which was formerly thatched. It is two storeys and an attic in height, with two bays. The house has a brick band course at first floor level and dentil eaves. The windows are horizontal sashes, renewed in the 1980s. The lower left window has three lights with a cambered head, while the two first-floor windows have two lights each. A 20th-century bay window with wooden glazing bars is located on the ground floor to the right. A central 20th-century board door, also with a cambered head, provides access, and an attic casement is set in the left gable. The rear lean-to has been largely rebuilt in the 20th century. Attached to the rear is a range of single-storey outbuildings, built partly of granite rubble and with a Swithland slate roof. Inside Number 12 are chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. Number 10 is built of larger bricks with dentil eaves and has a 20th-century interlocking tile roof. It is two storeys high and has two bays. All the windows are 3-light horizontal sashes with wooden glazing bars, renewed in the 20th century and with cambered heads. A central 6-panelled door, also renewed in the 20th century, has a rectangular fanlight, a moulded wooden surround and a small cornice. A rendered extension is located at the rear.
