Description

This is a large house, originally one dwelling, now divided into two properties at 32 and 34 Seymour Road. The earliest part, number 34, dates to the late 18th century and was subsequently altered with the replacement of windows. Number 32 is a later addition of the early 19th century, and may itself have been constructed in phases. The two parts combine to form a U-shaped plan.

Number 34 is constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof. It has two storeys throughout and features five bays with wide sash windows, incorporating glazing bars, and cambered brick heads to the window openings – although some windows have been replaced. A central doorcase features a small porch supported by brackets, and an overlight above the door. Gable end and axial stacks are present, along with a rubble plinth.

Number 32, forming an L-shaped extension to the rear of number 34, is also of brick construction and has a dentilated eaves cornice. The north front has four wide sash windows with glazing bars and an axial stack. The main (west) front has five bays with a central doorway recessed within a semicircular arch. The sash windows have flat arched heads and incorporate glazing bars. There is an archway at the south end, leading to the garden. Throughout the building are chimneys with bands of blue brick.
