Description

Laundry Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage and the only remaining building from the former village of Prestwold. It features a timber frame constructed in large panels, measuring 4 by 2 high, with arch bracing set on a plinth made of brick and rubble. The infill consists of wattle and daub as well as brick. The cottage has a thatched roof, and the rear wall has no openings, while the front (east) wall contains a door and windows that are horizontal sliding sashes. The structure is built in two distinct parts, each with its own roof, and there is a brick stack located between these two sections. Additionally, there are large thatched outshuts to the north and south.
