Description
The School House, built in 1881, is a long red brick building featuring central gables that display the Packe family crest in a stone cartouche. The gables are adorned with ornate barge boards and finials. On either side of the building, there are symmetrically placed entrances set in gabled porches, which also have pierced barge boards and finials, along with chamfered four-centred arched entrances. The windows consist of two central and two outer top-light openings, each with cambered brick heads and stone sills. The roof is plain tiled and has two axial stacks.
Historically, the school was originally established as an endowed foundation in 1657 and was relocated to its current site from the churchyard in 1840. It was enlarged and converted into a Board school in 1882.
