Description
Numbers 1 to 3 on Penny's Lane are early 19th-century houses that have been altered and stand at 2½ storeys. They are rendered above a plinth and feature a plat band and a brick block cornice. The roof is half-hipped and covered with old tiles, and there are three hipped gable dormers with 2-light casements, along with one ridge and one off-ridge chimney at the front. The first floor has six windows, which are mostly 2-light casements with glazing bars, while the ground floor has four cross-glazed sashes. Number 1 features a mid-19th-century door surround with scroll brackets supporting a blocking course and panelled reveals. Numbers 2 and 3 have gabled bracketed hoods over their doors. There is a single-storey extension to Number 3. The gable end of Number 1 displays two ranges of flush moulded surrounds for late glazed sashes and a round-headed attic window. The interior has been rearranged, and it is possible that the building was originally one house with the main entrance in the center. Number 1 contains a re-set late 18th-century carved chimney-piece in the ground floor room.
