Description
Dawsons' Farmhouse and adjoining stables is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid 18th century, with later additions from the late 18th century, early 19th century, and mid 19th century. The building is constructed from dressed limestone, brick, and stucco, featuring steeply pitched roofs made of concrete tiles, pantiles, and hipped slate. It has a first-floor band, cogged brick detailing, and moulded wood eaves, along with two gable stacks and a single lateral brick stack.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of three bays in an L-plan layout. The stucco section on the right has a slightly set-back bay that includes a panelled and moulded wood doorcase with a six-panel door, an oval fanlight, and elaborate reeded brackets supporting a flat hood. To the left of this bay are two glazing bar sash windows, and above, there are three more glazing bar sash windows.
The south range features a central blocked casement on the west side, flanked by two three-light leaded casements. Above this, there are three smaller leaded casements, all with key-toned segmental heads. Higher up, there are three three-light leaded casements with flat heads. The rear of the building has a single-bay lean-to addition, which includes a glazing bar sash above it. To the left, there is a two-storey stable, with a leaded casement above on the south side and a casement on the north gable. To the north, there is a single-storey lean-to addition.
