Description
Nancor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around the mid-18th century, with an addition from the late 18th to early 19th century, and some alterations from the late 19th century and later. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with granite dressings and quoins on the front, while the rear is painted. The roof has two spans; the front range is half-hipped and covered in slurried slate with ridge tiles, featuring end stacks with brick shafts and cornices. The rear range is also slate-roofed, with ridge tiles and gable ends, and has a gable end stack to the left with a brick shaft.
The farmhouse has a two-room plan with a central entrance leading to a passage, with each room being of equal size and heated by a gable end stack. The late 18th to early 19th-century addition includes a parallel rear range, which contains a kitchen on the left, heated by a gable end stack, and an unheated dairy on the right, with a stair located between the two rear rooms.
The exterior features two storeys and a symmetrical three-window front. The first floor has three late 19th-century four-pane sash windows. The ground floor has a central 20th-century half-glazed door with granite voussoirs and a keystone, flanked by early 19th-century 16-pane sashes, also with granite voussoirs and keystones. The right end has an external stack on the front range, while the left end has a 20th-century window at ground floor level. At the rear, there is a 19th-century 12-pane sash with a cambered brick arch on both the ground and first floors to the right, and a 12-pane sash at ground floor centre, which lights the stair. The dairy features a plank door with a glazed panel in a moulded frame and a 19th-century two-light six-pane casement.
Inside the rear range, there is a dog-leg stair with columnar newels and stick balusters, and a six-panelled door leading to the kitchen. The dairy has a slate floor, slate shelves, 19th-century beams, and a two-panelled door. On the first floor, all rooms have two-panelled doors.
