GRAMPOUND SW 94 NE WITH CREED 6/79 Milestone at SW 951 489 - II

Milestone. Late C18 - early C19. Painted granite monolith, about one metre high, with rounded head. Carved painted lettering in sanserif upper case: ST AUSTELL IIII TRURO IX. For the mileage to St Austell, the fourth stroke is half length, meaning 3½ miles.
