Description
This milestone, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, is a painted granite monolith standing about one metre high with a rounded head. It features carved painted lettering in sans-serif upper case that reads: "ST AUSTELL IIII TRURO IX." The fourth stroke for the mileage to St Austell is half the length of the others, indicating a distance of 3½ miles.
