Description

Milestone located in St Mewan, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. This painted granite monolith stands about one metre high and features a rounded head. It has carved and painted lettering in upper case with serifs, displaying the Roman numerals: ST AUSTEL II MILE TRURO XII. Notably, the second stroke in the Roman numerals for St Austell is half length, indicating a distance of 1 1/2 miles.
