Description
Manor Farmhouse, possibly built in the mid 18th century, has been refronted and extended in the mid 19th century, with some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of stone rubble, featuring a front made of squared granite rubble, while the top storey is rendered brick. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, and there are brick chimney stacks on both sides. The rear slope of the roof is finished with asbestos slate.
The farmhouse has a double depth plan with a central entrance. The main rooms are of equal size on the front left and right, while the service rooms are located at the rear in a one-storey outshut with a loft above. The kitchen is situated at the rear left, heated by a stack, and there is an unheated dairy at the rear right. To the right, there is a later 19th-century unheated lean-to, along with a kitchen wing at the rear left, also heated by a stack.
The exterior features three storeys and a symmetrical three-window front. The central entrance has a 19th-century six-panelled door topped by a 20th-century hood supported by wooden posts. On either side of the door are 19th-century 16-pane sash windows with sidelights and granite lintels. The first floor has two similar 19th-century sashes with sidelights, although the left window has been replaced with a 20th-century plastic window. At the attic level, there are three 20th-century plastic windows. The right end of the building is rendered and includes a single-storey rubble lean-to with a 19th-century three-light six-pane casement window and a 20th-century half-glazed door at the rear. The left end of the front range is blind.
There is a straight joint on the left leading to the service range, which has a 19th-century nine-pane window and a 12-pane sash at ground level, with another 12-pane sash on the first floor. The second kitchen addition on the left features a 19th-century 12-pane sash and a nine-pane window. At the rear, the two bays on the left have a 12-pane 19th-century window on the ground floor and two 20th-century windows on the first floor. There is a single-storey 19th-century lean-to in the centre with a 20th-century porch set in the angle to the left. The rear of the later lean-to on the right has a 20th-century door. The interior has not been inspected.
