Description
Polglaze Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early to mid-19th century, with some later 19th-century additions and 20th-century alterations. The front is made of granite ashlar, while the sides and rear are constructed from stone rubble. It features an asbestos slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, along with gable end stacks that have brick shafts. Some parts are finished in rendered cob.
The farmhouse has a two-room plan with a central entrance, where each room is of equal size and heated by a gable end stack. In the later 19th century, two parallel rear wings were added. The left wing has a one-room plan heated from a gable end stack at the rear, while the right wing also has a one-room plan and includes a 20th-century lean-to on its right side.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th-century 16-pane sashes featuring dressed stone voussoirs. The central entrance has a 19th-century panelled and glazed door with voussoirs, set within a 20th-century glazed porch. The left end of the building is blind, while the right end has an external stack. The right rear wing is two storeys tall, with the upper level finished in rendered cob. The ground floor has a 19th-century four-panelled door to the left, set in a 20th-century porch, and a 19th-century 16-pane sash to the right. The first floor features a 19th-century 16-pane sash. There is also an early 20th-century single-storey brick lean-to at the end, which includes a plank door and a single light. The interior has not been inspected.
