Description

The Old School is a mid-18th century house that was converted into a school in 1850 and returned to domestic use in the 1970s, with alterations made during each phase. The building is constructed from coursed ironstone and features slate roofs. The main block is located to the west, with a long subsidiary wing extending to the rear. It has one storey and a dormer attic. The west side is lit by two 2-light casements. The gabled roof has one gabled dormer positioned to the right of the center and a ridge stack to the left of the center. The south gable includes one 2-light casement on the ground floor and another in the attic. The parapeted gable head supports a bell-cote that was added in 1850 for the school use.
