Description
This is a barn located immediately west of Crossroads Farmhouse, known as Eastwell Lodge, and it dates from 1805 and 1857. The barn is built of coursed squared ironstone and features a pantile roof with stone-coped gables. It likely consists of six bays and has a central doorway along with another doorway to the left, both featuring brick cambered arches and jambs. There are similar doorways on the opposite side facing the yard. The roof mostly has mid-19th century sawn trusses, but the section closer to the house contains earlier timbers and a stop-chamfered loft-floor spine beam. Originally, this barn served as a threshing barn with a loft at one end, and the date 1805 is said to be inscribed on the wall. The central doorways were made smaller later, likely in 1857. This barn is included for its group value.
