Description

The Hall is a house dated 1634, constructed from ironstone arranged in alternating wide and narrow courses, with limestone dressings and a 19th-century slate roof. The building has a modified H-plan and consists of two storeys and attics. The north front features three wide bays, with the outer bays rising to form shaped gables adorned with scrolls. The central entrance has an 8-panelled door set within a stone doorcase that supports a segmental pediment on consoles. On either side of the door are subsidiary sash windows. The main facade is primarily composed of sash windows, mostly from the 19th century, many of which are paired with a central King mullion, all positioned under stone hoods. Above the first floor, there is a moulded platband. The roofs are gabled, with the side bays gabled back to the main roof. The main roof includes one gabled dormer, while the rear slope features a cluster of six limestone chimney flues on a tall rectangular plinth.

The west elevation has three window bays across two storeys and a dormer attic, with sash windows that retain their glazing bars, mostly from the 19th century, all under hoods. A through-eaves gabled dormer is located left of centre. The south side has a less formal layout, with three gabled ranges and sash windows similar to those on the west side, along with infill from two-storey late 18th-century additions. On the east side, two gabled ranges extend towards the road, both with one 2-light mullioned window on the ground floor in the east gable end. The north range has one storey and a dormer attic on the north side. Although the interior of The Hall has not been inspected, it is known to retain panelling.
