Description
Gyesgarth is a combined stables and house dating from around 1785. It is constructed of coursed ironstone with limestone dressings and features a graded Swithland slate roof. The building has two storeys and a central full-height arched carriage entrance with a rusticated surround that leads to a stable yard. Above the entrance, there is an open pediment with an oculus in the head of the pediment.
To the south of the entrance, there are four window bays on each floor, fitted with sashes that have glazing bars. A platband runs between the floors. To the north of the entrance, there are two blind windows on the first floor and a single hay loft door. The hipped roof has two stacks that serve the living quarters. Atop the pediment is an octagonal limestone cupola with round arches supporting a dome topped with a ball finial. The rear elevation is similar to the front but features windows that are recessed under shallow two-storey arches.
