Description
This is a 17th-century barn located to the northeast of Crossways Farm House in Abinger. It features a timber frame set on a plinth made of galleted ironstone rubble and brick, with weatherboarding and corrugated iron cladding beneath a plain tiled roof. The barn consists of six framed bays and has a large entrance to the left, which is covered by a gabled midstrey. Inside, there are aisles on both the north and south sides. The roof is a queen-strut, clasped-purlin design supported by braced main posts. Additionally, there is a further barn at the left end, positioned at right angles to the main structure, facing the road. This smaller barn has rubblestone plinth walls and a timber frame above, also topped with a plain tiled roof and consisting of four framed bays with a queen-post roof.
