DESFORD MAIN STREET SK 40 SE 6/51 Desford School (No 54) -

School. 1876. Red brick with blue brick and ashlar dressings. Slate roofs with decorative terracotta ridge tiles and a moulded brick stack. Chamfered blue brick plinth and blue brick cill band plus bracketed eaves. Single storey. Street front has off-centre former entrance, with partially blocked, point arched doorway with C20 casement, to the left a large pointed arched window of 4 lights, flanked by 3 light cross casements with chamfered ashlar lintels. To the right a projecting gabled wing with a single large 4-light pointed arched window, beyond a set back doorway with C20 glazed door. The north and south fronts each have a single large 4-light pointed arched window. All the pointed arched windows have red and blue brick voussoirs.
