Description
Desford School is a school building constructed in 1876. It is made of red brick with blue brick and ashlar dressings, featuring slate roofs adorned with decorative terracotta ridge tiles and a moulded brick stack. The building has a chamfered blue brick plinth, a blue brick cill band, and bracketed eaves. It is a single-storey structure.
The front facing the street has an off-centre former entrance, which includes a partially blocked, pointed arched doorway with a 20th-century casement. To the left, there is a large pointed arched window with four lights, flanked by two three-light cross casements that have chamfered ashlar lintels. On the right side, there is a projecting gabled wing featuring a single large four-light pointed arched window, with a set-back doorway that has a 20th-century glazed door. Both the north and south sides of the building each have a single large four-light pointed arched window. All the pointed arched windows are accented with red and blue brick voussoirs.
