Description

No. 50 Main Street is a former schoolmaster's house, now functioning as a dental surgery. It was built in 1876 and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick with blue brick and ashlar dressings, topped with slate roofs featuring decorative terracotta ridge tiles and two moulded brick stacks. It has a chamfered plinth and a blue brick band at the first floor cill, along with bracketed eaves.

The structure is two stories high and features an off-centre, projecting two-storey gabled porch. This porch has a pointed arched doorway with a four-panel door and an overlight. To the left of the porch, there is a small plain sash window in a pointed arched surround, and above it is a single glazing bar sash also in a pointed arched surround. To the left, set back, is a small glazing bar sash with a chamfered ashlar lintel on the ground floor. To the right, there is a projecting two-storey canted bay window with a double central sash, all framed by pointed arched surrounds. The pointed arched windows feature red and blue brick voussoirs. Above the central double glazing bar sash, there is a wooden gable, with blue brick decorated panels on either side.
