Description

This pair of cottages, numbers 8 and 10 Market Place, was built in the 19th century in a Cottage Orné style. The cottages are constructed of brick with a plain tiled roof. They are two storeys high and symmetrically arranged. Each cottage has a single gabled front, with a doorway to the left and a casement window above it. The windows feature heavy latticed panes and drop-ended hoodmoulds on both floors. An additional bay exists to the right, containing wide garage doors at ground floor level and a gabled dormer window above. The eaves overhang and are ornamented with barge boards carved into painted roses and trefoils. The cottages have gable end stacks.
