Description

Turnpike Cottage is an 18th-century building with a later facade. The ground floor is constructed of coursed ironstone, while the upper portion is red brick with a brick eaves cornice, which has been heightened. A modern pantiled roof is topped with end chimneys. The two-storey front facade has three windows, each with stone lintels and keystones, and early 19th-century casement windows. The central door is similarly detailed, featuring a moulded architrave and a six-panelled door with raised and fielded panels. A two-storey rear cross wing has a roof of both tile and slate, as well as two windows and a door on its front, and a single window on its first floor.
