Description

The Old Bake House is likely a 17th century or earlier cottage, built in an L-shaped layout. It is constructed of a combination of stone and painted brick, with the upper storey projecting over the recessed section. The roof is thatched, with a coped gable on the western end. The cottage is mostly two storeys high. A single window is visible in the gable end, and another in the recessed section, with two windows on the ground floor. These windows are late 18th or early 19th century sash windows. The lower window in the gable end has a dripstone mould. A modern porch has been added to the angle of the “L” shape. A large chimney stack is located at the junction of the two wings, with an additional chimney at the rear.
