Description

This description covers a churchyard wall with a gateway leading to the hall, located on the north side of Main Street in Barkby. The gateway is dated 1536 and features worn ashlar stonework. It consists of a narrow round-arched opening with a keystone that displays the date, topped by a shallow segmental pediment supported by plain squared pilasters. The wall itself is likely from the 18th or 19th century, constructed of cobbles with ashlar coping.
