Description

The Forge is a mid-19th century building that served as a forge and includes other outbuildings. It is constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof for the forge section and Swithland slate for the remaining buildings, which also feature a cobble plinth. The structure is a long, single-storey range. The forge, located on the left, has a three-light window with a cambered head and double doors. The left-hand gable is coped and has a stack. The roof of the longer range is slightly lower and has only a single doorway with a timber lintel on the front elevation. The Forge is an important part of a group of buildings and reflects the architectural style typical of the Pochin Estate.
