Description

The Mountsorrel Mineral Railway Bridge, dated 1860, is a bridge constructed of red brick featuring moulded brick arches and bands. It has a wide central segmental arch with a pier on either side, each containing a round-arched blank niche. On the west side, there is a single round arch, while the east side has a double round arch, along with an additional pier that also has a niche. The date "1860" is prominently displayed in large figures in the brickwork above the central arch. This bridge carries the mineral railway over the River Soar and serves as an impressive local landmark.
