Description
The Nag's Head Public House is a public house located on Loughborough Road in Mountsorrel. It dates from the late 17th century and underwent alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of granite rubble stone and whitewashed rendered brick, topped with a 20th-century corrugated tile roof featuring two brick ridge stacks.
The facade is two storeys high and includes four wooden mullion and transom windows, comprising two 2-light and two 3-light windows. On the ground floor, from the left, there is a plank door, a 2-light carriage entrance with double doors, two 3-light windows, and a 6-panelled door with an overlight. The building features brick dressings and a band. The left end wall is made of granite rubble stone with corrugated coping.
At the rear, there is a two-storey wing that has a tie beam truss on the gable end. It is said to retain an inglenook hood with stairs alongside and is believed to have been dated 1683. The building is included for its group value.
