Description

This is a pair of houses and a shop, dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The houses are built of rendered brick, with a granite rubble stone plinth in places, and likely incorporate timber framing. The roof is covered in Welsh slate, with a brick ridge and rear stacks.

The front of the building has two-and-a-half storeys and four windows, some of which are 20th-century replacements, and others original sash windows. The ground floor features a 20th-century window, a three-panelled door, another 20th-century window, and a sash window. A further three-panelled door and a carriage entrance are also present. A two-storey extension on the left end features a 20th-century shop window, a glazed door, and a two-light horizontal sliding sash window above. There are also a two-storey wing and a single-storey extension to the rear.

Inside, the houses retain features such as chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, an early 19th-century staircase, and a double-purlin tie-beam truss roof. The trusses in the rear wing have clasped principals, and the purlins are chamfered. Evidence suggests further wall posts to the rear, above the carriage entrance.
