Description
No 1 Coventry Road is a house dating from around 1800, with alterations made in the 20th century. The exterior features colourwashed render over brick, dentil eaves, and a Swithland slate roof, along with flanking brick chimneys. The house has two storeys and a cellar, with three bays. The original sash windows have been replaced by 20th-century top-hung wooden casements that resemble the originals, with the outer windows having four panes and the central first-floor window having three panes. The central door, also from the 20th century, is set within a fine wooden doorcase that includes fluted Doric pilasters, triglyph entablature blocks, and an open pediment featuring an unusual ogee arch motif above the fanlight. There are later extensions at the rear.
