Description
This is a house located on Coventry Road, Narborough. It dates back to the 17th century, although it has been altered and the front was rebuilt during the 19th and 20th centuries. The left gable retains a cruck truss, which may date back to the 16th century and belonged to a former adjoining building that was demolished in 1945. The original 17th-century house is of a box-frame construction, with timber visible in the rear wall. The front facade is brick and white-washed from the 19th and 20th centuries. The left gable is rendered and whitewashed, with a decorative surface over cob infill. The roof is steeply pitched and slate, with brick chimneys on both sides. The house has two storeys and two bays. The front exhibits 20th-century wooden windows with two lights, incorporating glazing bars, with a transomed lower window. There is also a single-light window in the centre of the ground floor, and a flush-panelled door to the right of centre. The left gable shows the cruck truss with a tie-beam, collar, and yoke. A small, single-storey extension projects from the rear. Inside, heavy framing is visible within the central partition wall.
