Description

The barn and stables at Nook Farmhouse date from the late 18th century and 19th century. They are constructed of brick and feature concrete tile and slate roofs. The barn has a rendered brick plinth, coped gables with corbelled kneelers, and rebated eaves. It is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys with four bays.

On the south side, there is an off-centre pair of close boarded doors with a wooden lintel, flanked by single breathers. Above these, there are single breathers on each side and further up, single close boarded loading doors with segmental heads. The north side features a pair of off-centre doors with a close boarded panel above, flanked to the left by two breathers and a stable door with a segmental head. To the right, there is a small casement and a breather. Above, to the left, is a coped gabled dormer with a close boarded loading door and a square hatch to its left. To the right, there are four breathers.

Adjoining the barn are 19th-century stables at the northeast end, which consist of three bays and include three stable doors and four 20th-century casements. The interior features buttress walls, a brick corn hole, a loft over the stable at the east end, and partly renewed queen post roof trusses with struts. This building is included for its group value only.
