Description
Coates Barn is a 17th and 18th-century barn that has been converted into a store, with some 20th-century alterations. The structure features cruck and box framing with brick nogging and a corrugated iron roof, consisting of four bays. On the east side, there is a 20th-century close boarded door to the left, flanked by a two-light casement window, and another close boarded door to the right. The west side has no openings and features five 20th-century brick buttresses on the right. Each gable has a pair of crucks, with the southern gable displaying V struts. Inside, the southern section contains a pair of re-used jowled posts with struts supporting the tie beam, and on the west side, there are struts to the wall plate. The barn has a single purlin roof with a queen post truss and wind braces. To the north, beyond a partition, there are three pairs of crucks with collars and saddles, along with a single purlin roof and wind braces.
