Description
No 1 Willington Road is a building that was originally three cottages, now combined into one. It dates from the late 17th century and early 19th century. The structure is timber framed with brick infill, with the framing visible on the east and south sides, while the north side is rendered to mimic ashlar stone. The roof is thatched and features a central brick chimney stack as well as a gable stack.
The north elevation consists of five bays and was refaced in the early 19th century. On the ground floor, there is a doorway on the left with a panelled door. To the right, five two-light casement windows with diamond pattern glazing are present. Above, there are four similar windows with steep triangular heads, set within four gabled dormers. Inside, the building retains exposed beams.
