Description
Orchard Cottage is a row of three cottages that have been combined into a single dwelling. It dates from the 17th century and features a timber frame that is cased in 19th-century brick, with the cottage to the south possibly being rebuilt. The north gable has some timber framing that is partly plastered, while the rest is in 19th-century brick. The roof is thatched with long straw and is half-hipped to the north, while the south side has a slate roof with an end stack. There are two local brick ridge stacks. The building has two storeys, one storey, and an attic. The front has three boarded doors set in segmental brick arches, each with gabled canopies supported by shaped brackets. There are four pivot-hung sash windows and one casement window on the ground floor, along with two first-floor casement windows and three small hung sash attic windows.
