Description

The Market Cross is a significant structure located in Repton, dating from the medieval period, with elements from the 17th century and 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and has a polygonal shape. The cross features a flight of eight steps leading up to a 19th-century, two-tiered octagonal base, which has a chamfer at the top of each tier. Atop the base is a 17th-century circular shaft that has entasis and a plain capital, resembling a Doric column. The structure is finished with a ball finial at the top.
