Description
10 Burton Road is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and a raising of the structure in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill, sandstone, and red brick, topped by a thatched roof that has two brick gable stacks, one positioned off the ridge. The cottage is single storey with attics.
The gable end wall to the east displays exposed box framing set on a sandstone plinth, with one 20th-century casement window on each floor. The south elevation is constructed of brick above a rendered plinth, featuring a timber ground sill and two 19th-century Yorkshire sash windows with two lights, each under segmental heads.
The west elevation is pebble dashed and includes a 20th-century doorway and window openings. A 20th-century outshut at the rear is not considered to be of special interest. Inside, the cottage has exposed beams and shows evidence of a stud partition that originally had stone slab infill. There are remains of an inglenook fireplace to the west and a single purlin braced roof.
