Description
Corner Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber-frame structure with some painted brick infill and rendered sections, along with a rubble plinth and a plain tile roof topped with a brick stack. The cottage consists of two rooms and has a side stack on the north wall within an outshut, as well as an outshut to the west.
It is one and a half storeys high, with an attic that is lit by a window at the end. The building is aligned east-west, with the east gable displaying two windows on the ground floor that are set below plank weathering. These are 19th-century two-light casements that extend through the frame. The entrance is located at the right corner and is accessed through a 20th-century brick lean-to.
On the left return front facing Hope Lane, there are two 19th-century casements in two structural frame bays, which are partly brick and partly timber, with an outshut to the left. The framing consists of four square panels high to the wall-plate, and the roof features a truss with two queen struts and V struts in the apex, along with trenched purlins.
