Description

This is an outbuilding located to the north-west of Hollins House, dating from the late 18th century, with alterations and additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed Coal Measures Sandstone with ashlar dressings, featuring a single ridge brick stack and a roof made of stone slate and concrete tiles. The building has an L-shaped layout, consisting of a taller two-bay section and a lower single-bay section attached at right angles.

The taller range includes three ground-floor doorways, which have boldly tooled jambs and surrounds, leading to plain planked doors. There is also a single ground-floor horizontal sliding sash window with two 12-paned lights beneath a plain stone head. On the first floor, there are two similar openings; one has 12 panes in each light, while the other has 6 panes. The lower range features a quoined doorway beneath a massive lintel and has a 20th-century garage floor. A stone staircase on the east gable leads to a quoined doorway at first-floor level. The building is listed for its group value.
